Most people have heard of Medicare, but don’t know much about it. Basically, it’s a government program that provides health insurance for those 65 and over — and for people under 65 with special circumstances, like a disability.
Medicare is made up of 4 parts: A, B, C and D.
The program begins with “Original Medicare” and has two parts — Part A for hospitalization and Part B for medical services.
IMPORTANT: Part A & Part B alone won’t cover all your healthcare needs. In fact, approximately 20% of medical expenses plus 100% of prescription drug costs aren’t covered at all.
Fortunately, Medicare has private insurance options that can help fill the gap. They’re called Part C and Part D. And they’re available from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama.Compare Plans
Did You Know?
If you have a Blue Cross metal level plan through the Federal Exchange, any subsidy or tax credit ends at age 65. So, it makes sense to look at low-premium Medicare plans like the ones we offer.
